I also like the 511E/288 ! Effortless is how they perform ! With very little power needed as well.

Yes, the tweeter can help spread the love. I don't think the multicells are as directional at the top end as the 511 and 811 horns. Perhaps I should measure that. A tweeter will probably sneak into the system anyway, but I'd like to hear what the 288 can do without it.

Well I cannot disagree with this. I believe I spent more time worrying about the mid bass and mid range and balance with the sub. But I might suggest not working on trying to eke out high end performance because I failed to be happy no matter how much I tried.

Actually it interfered constantly with the mid range balance and I never came close to the beauty of the maggies I owned. So once I just got the mids and mid bass right...just add something up high. THEN I found the system was more tweakable and the mids were just so much easier to play with...then it was more fun than frustration. Well...as long as the crossover point was around 10k. Much below that and it gets difficult...not impossible...just more factors. But in a way it makes sense because you want the fewest components to keep the sound as coherent as possible...and above 10k it's more or less sensed as air and sparkle. JMHO...

HR9040 baby!

Though I don't have the multicells to compare to any longer... the 9040 is surely a bit easier to handle. beware 2 different throat sizes (maybe denoted with the 'a' suffix ver).
